Gopal Krishna Gokhale was born on May 9, 1866, into a humble family in Kotluk village, Ratnagiri. He was a great freedom fighter, social worker, thinker, and reformer. A disciple of Mahadev Govind Ranade, Gopal Krishna Gokhale was known as the Gladstone of India for his unparalleled understanding of financial matters and his ability to debate them authoritatively. He was the most renowned moderate leader in the Indian National Congress. Fully convinced of the need for character building, he founded the Servants of India Society in 1905 to train young people for public life. He believed that scientific and technical education was a vital need for India.The countrys subjugation continued to torment Gopal Krishna. An inexhaustible stream of patriotism always flowed within his heart. Therefore, he worked under the influence of the three-fold forces of true dedication, devotion, and devotion to duty, striving to liberate the country from subjugation.Gopal Krishna Gokhale, the son of Mother India, will always be remembered for his simplicity of character, intellectual ability and long-term selfless service to the country.
