Mahayogi Gorakhnath appeared in the ninth and tenth centuries. He formulated his own system of yoga based on Patanjalis Yoga Sutras and achieved siddhi through his own practice. Thus, he broke the barriers of caste, sect, and community, paving the way for social harmony. He also paved the way for the path of yoga through celibacy, renunciation, and spiritual practice. His influence extended to society and literature throughout India from his time until the sixteenth century. His practical yoga process and terminology have been used by saints, poets, and Sufi poets of all languages. The magic of Gorakhnaths yoga is being recognized worldwide today.
