A Critical History of Hindi Criticism is a history of Hindi criticism, but a critical one. In it, the author highlights some of the inconsistencies in current criticism that are generally overlooked neither by writers nor critics. For example, Urdu literature has been excluded from the critical circle of Hindi literature; as a result, Urdu has become isolated and has become a language associated solely with religion, and its rich literature has become disconnected from the broader poetic understanding of the Indian psyche. Needless to say, its social and political consequences pose a significant threat today. The erudite author, while examining the historical aspect of this entire process, has also included Urdu literary criticism in his history. Challenging the notion that criticism originated alongside modern prose literature, he incorporates the practical criticism of Sanskrit literature into the long tradition of criticism, and then, step by step, reaches the present day, where media criticism has also developed significantly as an independent dimension of criticism. In this history of criticism, divided into twenty-one chapters, the author has made possible a comprehensive study of Hindi criticism by logically dividing it into genres, trends, ideologies, styles, etc. In its format, this book is both a reference book and an ideological call to examine criticism from a new perspective.
