Description
Imroz is a play that presents a highly celebrated, almost mythical, love affair in the literary world in a fresh and relevant way. The story of Amrita Pritam and Imrozs relationship is neither unknown nor obscure. Its threads also connect with Sahir Ludhianvi and Pritam Singh. But theres no doubt that the hero of this story is Imroz and the heroine is Amrita. The problem is that Amritas status in the literary world is so lofty and her influence so pervasive that in her vast shadow, the personality of the devoted Imroz has often remained obscured and unnoticed. Young playwright Kunal Hriday has effectively presented this overlooked aspect in his play, in which Imroz emerges as a sublime lover. Imroz unravels a subtle intertwining of relationships, shedding light on a delicate yet essential aspect of human nature. It presents a clash between hope and reality, but Imroz, who extends his hand in love, never lets ego interfere. In this play we see a new lover who cannot be explained by the traditional triangle of lover, beloved and rival.
