Description
Jharkhands writers have been neglected in education, literature, society, and politics since its inception. Whether its Menas Odeya, the first Mundari writer-novelist, Sushila Samad, the first tribal Hindi poet and editor, or Dhaniram Bakshi, the writer of Nagpuri, the lives and works of all these Jharkhandi writers and literary practitioners remain shrouded in the darkness of the unwritten world. A few books have been published in Hindi on Raghunath Murmu, Pyara Kerketta, and Lako Bodra, but the kind of significant research and publication on the personality and work of Father Peter Shanti Navrangi has not been conducted on other Jharkhandi writers and literary figures. A large number of journals and magazines have been published from Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Jamshedpur, but these journals lack space for interviews with Jharkhandi writers. Even after Jharkhand became a separate state, this situation has not fundamentally changed. This book compiles introductions and interviews of those ancestral writers who have developed and enriched Jharkhandi literature in Hindi and their tribal and indigenous mother tongues. Its purpose is to provide basic information to those interested in the history of Jharkhandi literature, so that the world literary world can become acquainted with the thoughts and works of our ancestral writers and contemporary Jharkhandi writers.
