Some were aware of the arrest of their loved ones, but were unaware of their whereabouts.In addition to political figures, writers and journalists also suffered extreme persecution throughout the Emergency. The Emergency wreaked havoc on Phanishwarnath Renu, Nagarjun, Bhawani Prasad Mishra, Surendra Mohan Pathak, Dr. Raghuvansh, Murli Manohar Prasad Singh, Kuldeep Nayyar, Kumar Prashant, Suryakant Bali, Vikram Rao, Virendra Kapoor, Shyam Khosla, Devendra Swarup, Dinanath Mishra, Prabhash Joshi, Ram Bahadur Rai, etc., but still these people did not bow down before the government.
