Description
In its early days, Madhya Pradesh remained free from the influence of Vedic Aryan culture. It was then the center of the Vratya civilization. Later, sages like Chyavana and Dadhichi were born in Madhya Pradesh. The Atharva Veda was also composed here. On the land of Madhya Pradesh, the twenty-third Tirthankara, Parshvanath, attained enlightenment, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara, Vardhamana Mahavira, attained enlightenment, and Gautama Siddhartha attained enlightenment. While the clanging of the swords of valiant warriors echoed on Madhya Pradesh, the immortal words of Buddha and Mahavira, who preached love, truth, and non-violence to the entire world, were also uttered. Mahavira delivered his first public sermon in Rajgrih and died in the royal palace of King Samsthipala in Pavapuri, near Madhya Pradesh. Of the twenty-four Jain Tirthankaras, all but two attained nirvana on the land of Madhya Pradesh. Astronomer Aryabhata was born here and Gaduyak poet Banabhatta was also born. Diplomacy-skilled teachers like Chanakya and Kamandak were born here; So also Ayurvedacharyas like Jeevak and Dhanvantari. There is a long series of glorious kings like Bimbisara, Ajatashatru, Udayin, Kalashoka, Mahapadayananda, Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka, Pushyamitra Shumbha, Chandragupta I, Samudragupta, Chandragupta II, Vikramaditya, whose birth mother anyone can be proud of.
