Description
Shri Vishnu Prabhakar, a renowned Gandhian writer of Hindi fiction, was drawn to story writing by his family environment. He had read the popular stories of that time in his childhood. His first story was published in the November 1931 issue of Hindi Milap. Describing its plot, he writes: The head of the family gambles and drinks. That day was Diwali. The owner of the house, having squandered everything in gambling, collapses at the door, drunk. The house is dark. The children yearn for their father to come and bring them sweets. The mother, on the other hand, watches as a helpless mute spectator. This was my first story. His story, Dharti Ab Bhi Ghum Rahi Hai, published in 1954, became quite popular. The author believes that this story brought him more fame than even his celebrated book, Awara Masiha. Shri Vishnujis stories are deeply influenced by Arya Samaj, progressivism, and socialism. But considering the wide scope of his stories, he believes, I am bound by neither ideals nor principles. I simply keep searching for the sublime against the backdrop of the reality I have experienced. I have never resorted to lies. For the convenience of readers, we are presenting his entire collection of stories, etched on the ground of the sublime, reality, and truth, in eight volumes. These stories are not only entertaining but also inspire, inspire, and inspire the new generation to be optimistic.
