Description
This book tells the story of an era obscured by written documents. It is part of a larger project called Peoples History of India, but it can also be viewed as a standalone book. The first chapter of this three-chapter book discusses Indias geological formations, climatic changes, and natural environment (flora and fauna) to the extent relevant to understanding our prehistory and history. The second chapter presents the story of humanity in the context of the world as a whole and then within India. Changes in tool sets are examined in relation to the types of toolmakers. The third chapter primarily describes the development of agriculture and the emergence of exploitative relationships. This book attempts to cite the latest information from available, authentic texts and journals. An effort has also been made to keep the style as simple as possible without becoming too popular or pompous. The use of technical terms has been kept to a minimum, and an effort has been made to provide a definition of each technical term on the spot. A bibliographic note is also provided at the end of each chapter, where important books and articles providing further information on the subject are listed, along with brief notes.
