His highly acclaimed poem, Dua, written on Pakistans Independence Day in 1967, makes this collection particularly appealing. In it, Faiz expressed the pain and dreams of the nations peopleMay those whose heads are waiting for the sword of torture/be blessed with the ability to shake off the killers hands. He wrote the poem, Heart Attack, after a days tour in 1967. Youll also find his translations of some of Rasul Hamzatovs poems in this collection. Youll also find two articles on his personality and creativity, written by foreign scholars who were close to him. One of these is by Alexander Sarkov, published in 1962 as a preface to a Russian translation of Faizs poems.
