Women: Rights and the Law is a collection of Taslima Nasreens articles and commentaries. Her arguments are based on arguments in favor of human freedom that any open-minded, just person would accept. However, those entangled in religious, traditional, and power-hungry prejudices find them unacceptable. Her manner of speaking and her language also seem offensive to many. In the articles in this collection, Taslima Nasreen discusses issues such as triple talaq, domestic violence, marriage, homosexuality, the status of Hindu women in Bangladesh, polygamy, Womens Day, the female body, family, and many other topicssometimes through memoirs and sometimes through events. She argues that among the victims of oppression, women are the only group who live in close proximity to their oppressors. Women in the West have established a home for themselves, so society no longer threatens them. However, Indian women are stared at with such red eyes that they cower in fear. Regarding homosexuality, she says that those who do not support the social acceptance of this community and do not stand up for their rights cannot be called advocates of human rights, nor progressive. She emphasizes that being homosexual or lesbian is not just a matter of sexual relationships; it is a relationship of love. She has similarly expressed her frank views on many other social and legal aspects related to women.
