Description
Namvar Singh is the greatest interlocutor in modern Hindi. The letters collected in this book offer a new perspective on his conversational spirit. The first section of Tumhara Namvar contains letters written to family members. The letters addressed to his middle brother, Ramji Singh, are unique in many ways. These letters contain numerous glimpses of the pressures of the conflicts between modern and traditional life. The letters written to his youngest brother, Kashinath Singh, shed light on the circumstances and life events that shaped Namvar Singh. Among his personal letters, the ten letters written to his daughter, Samiksha, from Darjeeling, hold a special significance. These letters, filled with deep emotions at the age of seventy-eight, are both letters and diaries. They deserve respect in the tradition of Hindis cheerful and cheerful prose. The second section contains letters written to literary companionsKedar Nath Aggarwal, Muktibodh, Rajendra Yadav, Vishwanath Tripathi, Ravindra Kalia, Kamala Prasad, Nand Kishore Naval, and Mahendra Nath Rai. In these letters, Namvar Ji not only creates a broad platform for discussion on various issues of literature of his time as a reader, but also fulfills his responsibilities as a writer and editor. The letters addressed to Shri Narayan Pandey in the third section can be classified as personal and family letters. Pandey Ji was a student of Namvar Ji at Banaras Hindu University from 1952 to 1954. These letters are as important as those addressed to Kashinath Singh. These letters reveal hidden aspects of Namvar Jis personality, as well as a profound glimpse into his political, social, and literary views. Thousands of letters, even outside this book, may still exist in peoples personal collections. Once they are collected, they will be included in the next edition. Despite this, the letters compiled in Tumhara Namvar are the philosophy of life derived from the life experience of Namvar Singh, who discovered the second tradition in Hindi criticism, in the light of which not only the past and present but also a lot about the future can be read, understood and created.
